You do not have a remote control

This is paraphrased from a church sign I saw in my neighborhood, and I thought it was rich. It’s amazing to me how many people think they are powerless to change. What you do in life is all about choices. Just Do It! This was a Nike tag line, and it’s so apropos.

 

Just Do it.A

I have heard the phrase, “People can’t change.” Yes they can. Or, I heard someone (many people actually) say, “Well, it’s just the way I am, I can’t change.” Yes, you can.

I am not the same person I used to be. I don’t really miss that part of me. The angry, loud, controlling, type A personality. I kept the good parts, the loving, spiritual me. I still have issues with patience, and I’m working on that one. I’m not perfect by any means, but I am trying.

Change - FB Karen BraddyIs there something you do not like about yourself? Then change it. It is pretty easy once you make a conscious effort. Twenty-one days is supposed to be the magic number. It takes twenty-one days to start a new habit.

  • Are you in a situation that makes you angry? Take a deep breath, ask yourself if it’s worth it. Put White Light around it.
  • Are you someone who likes to be in total control, and someone else is trying to take that control away from you? Take a deep breath, listen to that person’s ideas. Let them take the reins for awhile, and see if it works out.
  • Are you someone who is in such a hurry, that when a light turns red, you have to run it for fear you will be late? When that light starts to turn yellow, take a deep breath, slow down and stop at the red light. Trust me that light is not going to make you late, and you could avoid being in an accident.

These are just a few things out of myriad others. Look in that mirror. What do you see? Do you like what you see? Great! If not, then be the change you want to see. Trust me, you will like yourself better if you do.
