is a character from a classic children’s story written by Eleanor Hodgman Porter (1868–1920). This story was later made into a Disney movie in 1960 starring Haley Mills. Pollyanna was an optimist. She always saw the positive in everything. You know what? I do too. I believe there is a silver lining in everything. Yes! Everything.

Do you know what is the greatest benefit of thinking positive thoughts? Happiness. Stuff doesn’t bother you. Stuff just happens, and you deal with it. Milk spills, and you clean it up. Something breaks, and you go find the broom. You don’t become angry or upset, you just realize that breakage is a part of life.

Positive ThinkerI personally don’t spend a lot of money on crystal or china and the like (this is from a woman who has eight sets of dishes), basically because I know that crystal and china are prone to break. I know a lot of people who have beautiful things, and those things are locked in a cabinet never to be used because thy might break. So what’s the point? I drink coffee out of bone china, because it really does taste better, and wine tastes better out of crystal. It just does. So take those glasses out of your cabinet, and use them. If they break, you were at least able to enjoy your wine a little better. When the glass breaks think of all of the times you enjoyed using the glass instead of lamenting its demise.

Worry is often the product of negativity, thinking the worst is going to happen. Wouldn’t life be better if you thought the best was going to happen?

It takes less face muscles to smile than it does to frown. So try thinking happy thoughts today, and see how much better you feel.

what-me-worry-2Remember only ten percent of what you worry about comes to pass. So why worry? What will happen will happen. Take one day at a time. Think positive thoughts. Live in the moment, it may be the only moment you have.

Sometimes I marvel at myself when something that would have irritated me a couple of years ago now just rolls off my back. Being happy is a habit, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Oh Right Parsnips!

I bought some parsnips awhile back, and I didn’t use them quick enough so they went limp. Letting food go to waste is just not something I like to do. They were limp. Not moldy or rotted, just limp. So, I said to myself, “Self, parsnips are mostly water, what would happen if you tried to reconstitute them in some cold water?”

So I put the parsnips in a glass container filled with purified water, and viola the next day they were as good as new. I made garlic mashed parsnips out of them, and they were delicious.
